Description
The route will start from the shores of Lake Nicoletti, leaving its calm and picturesque shores we will begin to climb along old roads now almost in disuse that in some sections trace ancient royal sheep tracks.
The climb will be a continuous discovery of a landscape that alternates the contrasts between the green of the pastures and the plowed fields, olive groves and relics of ancient oak forests and the mighty hills of the towns of Enna and Calascibetta that dominate the lush valleys below.
The first stop of great interest on our ride will be the Necropolis of Realmese, a place of mystical charm, a hive of caves dug into the clear limestone rock in the protohistoric age.
Shortly after we will arrive at the village in the rock of Vallone Canalotto, an enchanting place with extraordinary nature that dominates the Morello valley.
The caves of this rock site have had an almost continuous frequentation that goes from prehistory to the twentieth century, changing their intended use over the centuries, but which still show the deep connection between man and the rock in central Sicily.
After the visit to the Byzantine Village and the lunch break we will cross the suggestive alleys of the village of Calascibetta to then begin the descent that will take us to the starting point.
